Sleep Deprived Parents

In April I invited bloggers to write a blog post using my Sleep Deprived Parent design and offered a Sleep Deprived Parent Button for a modest prize.  I also promised to share about some of the more creative entries on my blog.  There were several very creative posts, but as May is a VERY FULL month for me (with Mother's Day, my birthday, our anniversary, end of school activities for my son, and graduation at the University my husband works for), I wasn't able to do that...UNTIL NOW!  If you haven't read these already I think you'll enjoy hearing these Sleep Deprived tales!

Becky at Blossoms and Blessings was the first to blog.  She's a mom of four, and the stories she wrote about had me chuckling.  Here's my favorite story she shared:

"One time I went to nurse one of the kids in the night and thought, "But I need to put this baby down first", so I laid the 'baby' on the floor and when I got back to bed, my pillow was gone and I found it on the floor outside the nursery!"

You can read more of her sleep deprived tales here.

The winner of the button was Sara at Lady Bug Garden.  After the night she described I don't know how she had the presence of mind to blog.  All three of her children seemed to conspire to keep her from a full night's sleep.  You can read about her harrowing night here.

Mama May's post on Christ, coffee and knitting needles, was short but full of wit.  She wrote:

"Yes, I am sleep deprived... this is why I am presently living on coffee... as in 4 pots a day.  I know, they say sleep when the baby sleeps but really, I have 2 other kids too, what do I do with them?! Throw them to the wolves?"

As a mom of three,  I can say AMEN to that!  (Though luckily the baby is now two so I'm getting sleep again.  Yeah!).

Blessed With Boys

When I tell people I have three boys they often say "Wow, three boys!  You have your hands full."  And I apreciate getting those comments, because I DO have my hands full!  That's why I made that Sleep Deprived Parent shirt came from...and the ALL BOY design - those came straight out of my own experience.   And that was when I only had too.

But my boys are also a huge blessing and joy to me...and I wanted to make a design that conveyed that also.  I'm thinking of "Blessed With Boys."  I'm sure I'm not the only one who's ever done that but it's short common language so I think I'll be alright there.

My one hold-back is that...well, I don't want to convey the wrong meaning with that either.  Just had a long conversation with a friend who spent a year in another country where boys are considered a blessing, and girls a burden, so much so that female infanticide is common.  I know there's a lot of places around the world like that.

But of course I don't mean that boys are a blessing and girls aren't.   ALL children are blessings.  But my boys do overhear the "hand-full" comments sometimes, and they are getting to where they can read now (the older one can, second is learning, thrid one...well, he knows the letter O and U)...and I want them to see me wearing that and feel good about being who they are.

Maybe I should do a girls design too.  Maybe "Grateful for my girls" or something like that.  Any thoughts?

Angelic Baby Creations Bib - A Review

My boys are big...not "fat" just big.  They each weighed around 10 lbs when they were born, and then just kept growing.  That's why my littlest, who just turned two, fits into size three clothes (and even a few size 4 items).  He has grown out of most of his bibs (they're either two tiny or too snug at the neck), but hasn't grown out of needing them.  That was why I was so happy to get a chance to do some bartering for some large hand-made, long sleeved, pocketed bibs from Angelic Baby Creations.    Here's my little guy modeling one:

Cute huh?  But we need an ACTION shot...

Ah...PIZZA!  That's more like it!

Yeah...check out the fingers.  There we go!

Actually, he was being quite neat for this photo shoot,  but I have no doubt this bib would keep his clothes clean during much messier meals.  The bib was a size large (for ages 2-5), and fit him perfectly.  I'm not sure if it would fit a 5 year old, but then I'm basing that off my little one who, while he fits a size three, still has more baby fat than an actual three year old, and certainly a 5 year old, would.  The sewing is well done--I put the bib through the washer/dryer and it held up fine.

When you order a bib from Angelic Baby Creations you can pick from a fun selection of fabrics , or choose pre-made styles from her sale section.   Angelic Baby Creations also carries invitations, birth announcements, custom candy bar wrappers, hair bows, mother's bracelets, and pearl charm bracelets.

(I was not payed to write this review, though since the item I traded her for was a little less than the bibs cost, she she did give me a small discount for reviewing her bibs on my blog.).
