Free Twitter and Facebook Blog Buttons

You may have noticed that I have a new button on my sidebar...a twitter button!  Yes, that's right, I'm on Twitter now!   Tweet tweet!  Just another way to follow!

I made my button to match my facebook button, and shrunk them a little...

I thought they came out rather nice. 

Since I used a free graphic from The Graphics Fairy to make the bird silhouette, I thought it would be nice to "pay it forward" a little and pass on some freebies to you. So, I made the following blog graphics which are a little less Scribbleprints-centric. These are free to use on your blog or website.   To do this right click on the pictures below and save them to your computer, then upload them to your blog or server or a free graphics storage site like PhotoBucket .

The graphic did not start in silhouette.
Here is that graphic with the background removed,
and then changed into a silhouette.

You notice I removed the leaves and added a leg on (the bird looked one-legged in silhouette without it). The added leg really changes the look of the bird...makes him look like he's sitting on top of a branch in stead of dangling under it. I also changed the branch a little bit. This was actually my first idea...I made the branch longer for my buttons.

You are welcomed to use these for your own graphics projects or whatever. You can click on them for slightly larger versions.   If you use them online a link back to me (http://www.scribbleprints.com ) and The Graphics Fairy (http://graphicsfairy.blogspot.com/) somewhere on your page would be appreciated, but is not required.  Of course, all of the other graphics on this blog are off limits, unless of course you are using them to help promote my site or products, or I've otherwise specifically given you permission.

Aloha Friday

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday! Every Friday (well, ok, almost every Friday) I ask a simple question--nothing that requires a lengthy response.

I just reached over 100 followers on my blog, which I'm thrilled about (you'll see on my sidebar I'm having a blog party to celebrate). But I also know that clicking "follow" doesn't mean you actually "follow," and that you can follow many many ways without following through blogger or google connect. I do follow a lot of blogs through blogger, but I only check these occassionally. The blogs I visit the most I either have their URL memorized, or I put links to them on my sidebar, or on a "homepage" that is my start page when I open my browser.

So, here's my questions for you today.

• When you really want to keep up with a blog, how do you follow them (bookmarking, google friend connect, making them your homepage, memorizing the URL)?

CafePress Marketplace vs. My Shops

My products sold through CafePress can be found both in my shops and in the CafePress marketplace.   There are some differences between the shopping experience of these two places, which I talk about below.


Most Items Cost Less In My Shop!
Even though I generally earn more on items sold through my shop, you usually pay less!  Some items, like ornaments and tile coasters are drastically less!

A Few Items Are Often Less In the Marketplace
You can find products with my designs in the CafePress marketplace by searching under scribbleprints (for artistic designs) or galesgiggles (for humorous designs).  Prices fluctuate in the marketplace and I don't have control over them, but the following are usually less there.

• Light Sweatshirts (excluding children's and juniors)
• Dog T-Shirts 
• Journals (which I call note-pads in my shop)

But Sales Can Change Everything
While the regular prices are usually much more in the marketplace, sales there often bring prices much lower.  That's why I often blog about marketplace sales.   Unfortunately, coupons good in the marketplace don't work in my shops.

WHY THE PRICING DIFFERENCE?
In the marketplace CafePress sets the prices and I get a flat 10% commission.  In my shops, CafePress sets a base price I can't go under, but I set my own mark-up above that, and so get more control over how things are priced.   There are some items offered in the marketplace for less than the minimum mark-up on those products in my shop, so I can't go under them.  Also, marketplace prices fluctuate, so if I tried to make my own prices match theirs I'd spend all my time on that, which would be no fun at all.

PRODUCTS ARE DIFFERENT TOO!
In the marketplace, some items in my shop are not available (like my best priced T-Shirt, the Value Tee).

Blog Party - Something in Common Game & Giveaway

I'm holding a little party to celebrate getting 100 followers!  And what's a party without some fun party games!

The "Something in Common" game is a fun way to find out about each other.  It is played like this:

The first person tells three random things about themselves.
IF the second person has something in common with the first, they will copy paste that thing into a comment and add  two other random things about themselves.
The next person does the same thing.

Here's a little demonstration

1st person:
I like pizza
I have brown hair
I am double jointed

2nd person
I have brown hair
I live in Arizona
I love opera

3rd person
I love opera
I'm an artist
I've been to 23 countries

etc..

I will be the first person (you can see my comment below).  You can play as many times as you want, but you can't play twice in a row--you have to wait until one other person goes before commenting again.  One commenter will be chosen November 1 to win one of my party favors listed here.    You're welcomed to keep playing after that, but it'll just be for fun then...not for a prize.  I'll be playing too, but of course my comments won't count for prizes either.  The winner will be posted on this blog Nov 2nd.
