1. What are you reading right now? Tell us about it!
Ug...nothing but bedtime stories to my kids. I have the 2nd and 3rd book in the Hunger Games Trillogy sitting in a box, but this is a really busy time of year for me, so I'm leaving them there because I can't afford to loose two days (I know I will chain read them and not be able to stop). After the first one not only was I gone while I was reading it, but I was emotionally distracted afterwards. So much stuff to think about.
2. Divergent, Hunger Games, or Twilight. Which do you prefer and why?
Only read Hunger Games. Intrigued by Divergent, and not interested in Twilight.

3. TV Series Based on Books: they start out very close to the book to draw in the fans but then will start to separate themselves by changing things and adding characters. What are you thoughts on this?
The only show I ever watched based on a book I had actually read was the Laura Ingalls Wilder series. I thought it stayed faithful to the idea. I would love to see the Hobbit turned into a cartoon series, just because that book needs more than a single movie to finish it. Oh wait, maybe 3 movies will do it. *Grin* But honestly, I can't take my kids to see that. Way to graphically violent. So I still want a cartoon series.

4. You’ve just been recruited to help a movie studio bring your favorite book to the big screen. What’s the movie and who are you choosing to play the main characters?
There are so many books I'd like to turn into movies. I would love to see The Ordinary Princess as an animated film, with animation based off the original artwork by M.M. Kaye. It's just beautiful.
It would be really cool if it were animated like a mesh of the styles of Snow White and The Secret of Kells (a movie that was just artistically exquisite, though I hated that they managed to take a movie about a bunch of monks copying and illustrating the Bible and make it all about Celtic mythology and not a at all about any of the contents of that book).
5. Going back to the above question, do you keep it word for word the same or do you use this chance to change little things you thought would make the book better?
I would stay faithful. I find that movies that are faithful to the books are generally better...though they sometimes need to trim out scenes for time sake, which is understandable.
6. After you finish a physical copy of a book do you keep it for a reread, put it on a shelf to collect dust, donate it to Goodwill, or do you just not purchase physical copies of books?
Depends on how much I like it. If I like it I usually keep it. If I don't care for it I donate it.

I've never heard of the Ordinary Princess. I'm going to have to put that on hold at the library.
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful book...sort of a parody on the traditional fairy tale (one of the first I've read, before that became really popular to do)...but still a magical story.
DeleteWhat a fun meme. I read every day, so thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is a voracious reader and enjoyed the Divergent series although she said the first book was the best. May is a crazily busy time of year. Someone told me it was worse than the holidays; they were right! :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, it definately rivals the holidays for crazyness! And my birthday and our anniversary is in May too, so this month is just packed with celebrations for us.
